Get an alert when your app's downloads or sales drop

Short answer: Apparent emails you when an app's last 7 days of downloads fall 40% or more below the 7 days before, and tells you about every sale, refund, new crash and 1–2-star review as it arrives, by email or as a push to its phone app. Nothing to set up beyond connecting your stores.

Neither App Store Connect nor Google Play Console is a place you want to check every morning just in case. Apparent watches both stores, RevenueCat and your app's own events, and only tells you when something changed: bad news plainly, good news too.

Bad news it tells you

  • Downloads fell: the last 7 complete store days have 40% or more fewer downloads than the 7 before (from at least 30, so a small app's slow week isn't news). At most every 3 days.
  • A new crash or problem: what broke, how many people hit it, and in which version.
  • A 1- or 2-star review: the words, the store, and the country (App Store) or phone language (Google Play).
  • A refund, each one, as RevenueCat reports it.
  • More people stopping at a step: this week's new people get past sign-up, the paywall or another step at least 25% less than the four weeks before.
  • Nothing is coming in: your app's events stopped at an hour that was busy on each of the last two days.

Good news too

  • Every sale, trial and renewal, within seconds with RevenueCat, with the buyer's country.
  • Busy right now: about twice as many people in the app as usual for that hour.
  • Best day in 30 days, and milestones: the 10th, 100th, 1,000th download, sale or review.
  • New countries, and every 5-star review.

Sales: what's there and what isn't

There's no "sales fell" alert yet. Every sale and refund is its own message, so a quiet stretch is easy to notice, and the email every Monday says last week's downloads and money for each app in a sentence.

Where the alerts go

  • Email: a few minutes' worth in one message, so 20 sales are one email, not 20.
  • A push to Apparent's phone app instead, when you have it. It's on Google Play now; the iPhone app is on its way.
  • Teammates you invite to look get news about their apps by email.

Why it compares weeks, not days

Store numbers arrive late (the App Store's a day or two later, Google Play's up to 5 days later) and a single day swings with weekends and featuring. Comparing whole weeks of complete days catches a real drop without waking you for a quiet Sunday.

Without Apparent

Appfigures sends alerts by email, Slack or push, including downloads and revenue to Slack. RevenueCat can post each purchase event to a Slack channel. Or write a small script that pulls both stores' daily reports and compares weeks.

Questions

How do I get an alert when my app's downloads drop?

Connect App Store Connect and Google Play to Apparent. When an app's last 7 days of downloads fall 40% or more below the 7 days before, you get an email. Nothing else to set up.

Can I get an alert when sales drop?

Not as its own alert yet. Every sale and refund is a message as it happens, and the Monday email gives last week's money per app.

Can I change the threshold?

Not yet. The rules are tuned so alerts stay rare: a message that comes every day stops being news.

Does it send to Slack?

No. Alerts go by email, or as pushes to Apparent's phone app.

Will my own testing set off alerts?

No. Test phones (simulators, Apple's review, Google's pre-launch phones, builds not in the store yet) are never counted.

What does it cost?

Plans start at $10 a month, with 14 days free and no card.
