Impressions

Impressions count how many times your app was shown in the App Store, in search results, on the Today, Games or Apps tabs, or on its own page.

Also called App Store impressions.

In plain words

Fern was shown 48,200 times in the App Store last week.

How Apparent would say it about Fern, an example app in the live demo.

Good to know

Apple counts an impression when your app is on screen for at least a second. "Unique impressions" count each device once a day.

Impressions are the top of everything: no one downloads an app they never saw. If downloads fall, check impressions first. If they fell too, people are seeing the app less; if not, fewer of those who see it are downloading.

Google Play reports store visitors and acquisitions rather than the same measure, so the two stores' numbers aren't directly comparable.

Where the number comes from

App Store Connect (App Analytics and the Analytics Reports API).
