Renewal rate
Renewal rate is the share of subscriptions that renew when their period ends, instead of being cancelled or failing to pay.
Also called Subscription renewal rate.
In plain words
4 in 5 yearly Fern subscriptions renewed this month.
How Apparent would say it about Fern, an example app in the live demo.
How it's worked out
Subscriptions that renewed ÷ subscriptions that were due to renew.
Good to know
Renewal rate is churn seen from the other side. For yearly plans it matters most at the first renewal, a year after someone subscribed; the ones who renew once tend to keep renewing.
Some renewals fail because of payment problems, not choice. Those show up as billing issues and can often be recovered.
